Frequently Asked Questions

After six amazing years building the world's first participation system at scale here in Barking and Dagenham, Every One Every Day completed its final funded year of activities in December 2023. You will have noticed many changes throughout 2023 as we closed spaces, reorganised our teams and worked towards leaving a strong legacy for the extraordinary things we have created together.

This has involved many difficult decisions, and we have been very sad to close spaces, bring activities to a conclusion and say goodbye to some great friends and team members. But it has been an amazing privilege to work with nearly 10,000 of you on projects, programmes, and activities across Barking and Dagenham over the past six years. Below, are some frequently asked questions which provide further information about what we have done and what remains to do.

  • Yes - The project officially concluded on 2nd November with the wonderful reflections event held at the Boathouse Studios and attended by so many of you.

With the exception of Unit 19 at the Heathway Shopping Centre, all spaces have now been closed and all machines, equipment and workshops have been gifted to new homes in the borough.

There is still a small team working on final activities related to closing Participatory City Foundation, and the Fabric Lab continues to operate from Unit 19 at the Heathway until the middle of May.

Participatory City Foundation will officially close by the end of June 2024.

  • We are working with participating residents and partners across the borough to find a new home for Fabric Lab once Unit 19 at the Heathway closed in the middle of May.

Participatory City Foundation will officially close by the end of June 2024 and will publish its final report at or around that point.

A comprehensive learning resource, the major research output from the project, is currently being finalised and will be published at some point later in the year after PCF closes.

This will be an open source resource for anyone seeking to develop inclusive participation approaches in their practice, organisation or place.

  • Although Every One Every Day has sadly been brought to a close, we remain strongly convinced of the importance and relevance of these approaches to tackling the most significant challenges faced by communities and societies.

Alongside the publication of the learning resources later this year, we will continue to work with partners to build the case for inclusive social infrastructure and peer-to-peer participatory approaches.

Keep an eye out for further announcements about this.
