Development Director

Why I wanted to join the team

I was an ordinary citizen who walked through the door of the West Norwood 'Open Works' (forerunner to Every One Every Day) and walked out convinced of the need for such a participatory culture in every village , town and city. Using this process I connected with neighbours and other local people to create an urban growing project, and an Open Orchard - planting fruit trees in public places. Almost 3 years later both projects have gone from strength to strength. Basically, participatory culture works, and I'm passionate about spreading the love to others!

A little bit about Wayne's background

Wayne has fifteen years public sector management, strategy and project experience, cutting his teeth in dark days of London Underground. He the co-founded the Open Orchard Project, which connects communities through fruit and planting fruit trees in public places, and is a passionate grower at home and in community gardens.

He has a BSc in Biochemistry & Management from Imperial College London, is a qualified Garden Designer and is a Fellow of the RSA. He recently moved to east London to work on the Every One Every Day project.
