Everyone has clothes lurking at the back of their cupboard that they no longer wear. Share & Mend is a community clothes exchange, where you can swap the clothes you wear less often for something fresh for the next season.

This will be the launch of the Rivergate Centre Share and Mend rail, where there will also be a selection of clothes to hunt through to swap with your own unwanted items* and a sewing machine and hand sewing items if you’ve got something you’d like to mend!

* All clothing should be in good, clean condition with no marks, holes or damage.

Share & Mend | Feeling comfortable in your clothes

Thursday 24 October | 3.00 - 5.00pm

5 Porter’s Avenue, Dagenham, RM9 5YS

My name is Pansy. I am 76 years old, living in Barking. Since I retired, I’ve been learning more about repairing and amending clothes from Youtube. I sew to help my family. Repairing is really important, because everyone’s bodies are different and we should all be able to feel comfortable in our clothes. Come to this session to change hems, take out clothes and fix them to make them fit.

Kids grow out of their clothes so quickly, here’s your chance to swap those too-small items for something new. Bring up to 10 items of clothing (shoes welcome) and choose some from the items others have brought in to take home. To give jeans an extra lease of life, Titi will show you how to patch yours up. Kids will have the added option of making theirs into monsters!
