Imagine a beautiful shared space for gathering, playing, growing and relaxing.

This is exactly what local people are creating - we would love you to join us!

Local residents have chosen an area of green space in the heart of Dagenham to redesign together, which is located on the junction of Church Elm Lane and Rectory Road (a stone’s throw away from Dagenham Heathway).

Would you like it to be a social space, an extended garden for the neighbourhood, a play area or a growing space for fruit and vegetables?

You could help by:

- Designing how the space will look and feel, adding ideas.
- Growing plants from seeds at home and planting them in the shared garden.
- Lending a hand with digging, building, sawing or painting.
- Looking after the team by making tea, coffee and sandwiches.

About the project starters

The People’s Corner project started with a wonderful vision by local residents AJ and his 10 year old brother Efe, who wanted to convert unused spaces near their home into vibrant and useful spaces for the community. They came up with the name with other residents and started knocking on doors to ask people what they wanted on the green.

Secret Garden is one of the first  launching in Spring. Do you have a green space near you? There are thousands of small pockets of green spaces in Barking and Dagenham. Can you help to turn some of them into lively social spaces for your neighbourhood?

If you would like to share ideas or want to talk about a potential Open Corner near you then please email: saira@weareeveryone.org, or pop into the Tea and Toast session where you can discuss potential Open Corner's projects with the team > 7th March at 10am - 12pm at 116 Church Elm Lane, Dagenham.
