Open Saturdays are full days of sharing opportunities, skills and interests. It’s a chance for you to try out some hands on activities with people from your neighbourhood, in a fun and homely setting. There will be a variety of activities for you to join in at each Open Saturday.

Come along to Make Day and get involved in hands on making sessions. Whether it’s learning how to make something by learning crochet or making beautiful planters - there is something for everyone.



Intro to Crochet

Saturday 2 November | 10.30am - 12.30pm

Come and learn some simple crochet techniques with Nertila and friends over some tea and cake. Bring along your favourite cake to share with others.

Paint & Plant

Saturday 2 November | 11.00am - 1.00pm

Residents made some wooden planters in the warehouse over Summer. Come and get involved in painting and planting them. They will be placed outside the Ripple Road shop to brighten up the area.

Paint a Pendant

Saturday 2 November | 2.00 - 3.00pm

Come and join local resident Sushma, who will be sharing how to colour a beautiful handmade terracotta pendant.

Decorate Day is focused around decorating the green corners in the borough. Local residents have been working on transforming some of them into great places for planting, playing and sharing.



Bottle Bugs

Saturday 16 November | 10.30am - 12.00pm

Come and join local residents for a fun session of reshaping and painting plastic bottles into insects and flowers. The petals and wings will decorate the railings and trees of the Wild Garden.

Butterflies and Bugs

Saturday 16 November | 11.00am - 12.30pm

The perfect way to brighten an area is with colour! Come to make and paint some butterflies and bugs that have been made at the warehouse to decorate Westbury Community Space.

Make Decorations

Come and learn how to crochet and make lovely decorations for your home or to give as a gift to someone you care about. Bring along your favourite cake to share with others.

Cupcake Decorating

Come and have fun with Faiza and family as they show you how to decorate cupcakes or any other tasty treats you bring to the table.

Brunch with style at the Martin’s Corner shop. Make and personalise your own pancakes. Create a batter from a classic recipe and top with your favourite fruit or sweet treat. Let’s see who can flip the most!

Seed exchange and herb planting

1.00 - 2.00pm

Cem loves growing chilli plants! He has started a small garden for growing at William Bellamy Primary School. He is keen to swap seeds with others. He also wants to share his gardening skills by planting lots of hardy herb plants.

Queen bees & Seed Bombs

2.00 - 4.00pm

Make bee friendly seedbombs to give new bees a treat in Spring. We’ll then walk to the Allotment Plantastic to join local beekeeper Maria to find out how bees create new queens and colonies. This is also an opportunity to learn more about the Freebees project and how you can get involved!
