Why I wanted to join the team
I believe that for people to be happy, they need to have a sense of agency: we need to have a say in the decisions and the design of things that affect us. This is true for where we live, the ways in which we work, the products or services that we use and the way we show up in the world. What excites me most about Every One Every Day is the opportunity to do this right from the start, on an unprecedented scale, with everyone living and working in Barking & Dagenham.
A little bit about my background
Nina has a background in design and experience working on a range of innovation, service design and organisational change projects. She moved from Amsterdam to the UK in 2014 and spent most of her time since building better public services, working with councils across the country. In 2015/16 she worked with the council of Barking & Dagenham to redesign their approach to early action and prevention.
Nina enjoys working with a range of different people, creating opportunities to learn and making change happen by thinking big and starting small. She has a curiosity in all things power and people related, is obsessed with mountains (the Netherlands is as flat as it gets), still thinks that one day she'll learn to skateboard, loves public speaking and wishes she was a better writer.
