invites kids to their local barber shop where they can practice reading whilst having a haircut! With a shelf full of books available, children get a new look and the chance to discover some new stories.
The Listening Barber invites kids to their local barber shop to get reading whilst having a haircut.
The project started in the Every One Every Day shop on Church Elm Lane shop when a local barber based on Dagenham Heathway came to do haircuts for children in the shop. It was then taken on by local barber Chika in Martin’s Corner. Chika has 10 years experience of barbering and loves his job. He wanted the community to know he is here to listen.
With a shelf full of books available, children get a new look and the chance to discover some new stories. It’s a great way to encourage young members of the community to read. It also supports local businesses and makes getting a new haircut an amazing experience too!
