Would you like to learn how to sew and be able to give old clothes a new lease of life? Would you like to have a go on different sewing machines with a variety of materials?

Handmade Workshop is an open session of sewing mending and meeting other people with an interest in making things from fabric. Come along to the Warehouse to get to know the fabric workshop and be introduced to the different sewing machines. This is a chance to learn the basics and have a go.

There are friendly space in Barking & and Martins Corner, where a group of people are ready to share their skills on sewing and making techniques. Don’t miss the two sessions we have planned. This group of locals will be on hand to encourage you and pass on the sewing skills they have learned!

Sew Your Own Bows

Thursday 11 July | 6.00 - 8.00pm

47 Thames Road, Barking, IG11 0HQ

Amina will be running a session to guide you through some simple making techniques, showing you how to make beautiful bows, a great first sewing project for anyone just getting started.

My name is Amina, I’m very passionate about the local area, and getting people from all background together to do something fun whilst learning something new. My nieces inspired me to make bows for them to be like Jo Jo Siwa. I learnt how to sew at the Warehouse, and have since tried out lots of materials. Now I look forward to sharing my new skills and space with everyone. I will help you to either sew or glue bows to take away and wear.

Local residents Coby & Natalija are both skilled in basic sewing and want to share their sewing, mending and making techniques with you so next time you can get fixing instead of binning!
