Gul Rasool

Project Designer, Dagenham

Why I wanted to join the team?

The project’s bold vision for improving the context we live in, and doing it in a way that brings everyone along, is what stood out for me amongst other design led organisations that look to create great individual products and services.

From my perspective, one of the most exciting parts of the work we do at Participatory City is that people’s own creativity and uniqueness is our starting point. We strive for inclusion and equality without trying to homogenize. As citizens in this country we are lucky to live in a multicultural, melting pot society, and at a time in our history where diversity is being increasingly vilified, I’m so excited to be part of a team that is rightly harnessing it as our strength.

A little bit about my background

I am a designer and Researcher with a background in Anthropology and Participatory Design. Before joining Participatory City I was a user researcher in a government service design team and have worked on projects using design for social good with Innovation unit and Snook. I’m passionate about creating positive change with people, rather than on their behalf, and look forward to collaborating with residents of Barking and Dagenham!
