The Corner Shop Project was started in early 2020 to celebrate Martin’s Corner shopkeepers and local makers.

Martin’s Corner in Barking and Dagenham has always attracted shoppers, and now together with local shopkeepers, we want to reinvigorate the corner to invite new people to shop and build relationships with their local high street! We aim to inspire people to make and sell in their local area, and the Corner Shop project is one way to do that.

In Spring 2020, a pop-up market with local makers as well as skill sharing sessions was planned. For example, an Intro to Kurdish/Turkish in a local grocers, a short business how-to in a takeaway and a make up tutorial in the Pharmacy. Due to the pandemic, these activities have been delayed but the project is meant to resume when possible.
