Preserving foods is a pastime that residents are bringing back! It's a great way to keep food for longer and reduce waste.

Barking and Dagenham is well known for its allotments that produce an abundance of food every year, not to mention the parks that provide fruit for foraging. Preserving food is a great natural way to store some foods and it’s fun to do too! It’s something that local residents have been doing for years and they want to share that process with you.

For these sessions everyone brings an ingredient and batch cooks together to make lots of jars of delicious jams and chutneys. Then we can all take them home to share with neighbours or give to our loved ones as a gift!

“Preserving that goodness to eat throughout the year with tasty spices is almost magical!”

PRESERVED SESSION’S COMING SOON!
